I'm planning to go to Montreal for college and I also plan to find an English-speaking part-time job. I dont really mind the type of job, (fast-food,coffee shops, retailer), as long as there isn't much french since I really can't speak any.
Anyone thinks it's possible to find such job?
Btw, is there any English movie theater in montreal?

THANKS!

Yeah you might be able to find an English speaking job here in Montreal but it will be a lot easier for you if you spoke at least a little French - know what I mean?

Working with the public not knowing a word of French?

Ouch!

My advice to you would be to learn French at the earliest opportunity!

Movie theaters that show American movies in their original version?

There are plenty - especially downtown on Sainte-Catherine Street West!

Good luck to you!

You will easily find the kind of job you seek in English in the western part of the city (West of the street "Saint-Laurent"). At least a little French will be very useful though. But you will have the time to learn some when you arrive.

Yes, there is entertainement in English for you! Montreal is very bilingual. Don't worry. There are movie theatres downtown with movies in English.

Yes there are english movie theaters, pretty much all of them have movies in english

It is possible to find an english speaking job at professional level, but I don't think at fast food coffee shop level it would be possible, by law all shops and restaurants have to be able to serve in french otherwise they have to pay a fine or I don't know what

Or maybe if you work in the college it may be possible, but not in something serving the public

Don't worry about it. Most montrealers, like me, are bilingual so you don't have to worry that much about having trouble on the job speaking to customers. Though I recommend knowing how to say hello, goodbye, what would you like and very basic things like that. But if you go to place vertu or any other mall you can find a job in english. Why don't you try HKR or something like that. I got a job offer and I spoke in english.

It really depends on the job you're looking for. But not speaking French = less opportunities.
